I had something very interesting happen today. I w

I had something very interesting happen today. I was guiding a couple of people today fishing the creek and a pod of dolphin showed up in the creek not far from our pier feeding on a school of baitfish. One surfaced not 10 feet in front of my boat. I was not able to get a close up photo of one out of the water but the following video does show them moving in front of me. We watched them jump out of the water and feed as they moved down the creek. I have heard of them in the bay and the river but never would have expected to see them in the creek. Pretty amazing. I’ve fished St. Leonard creek for almost 25 years and have never seen anything like this.

Fishing in St. Leonard Creek is starting to heat u

Fishing in St. Leonard Creek is starting to heat up. The creek is full of huge bait schools, the rockfish bite is starting to come into fall swing and the perch continue to slam small spinnerbaits (which is a blast on ultralight tackle). I don’t harvest a lot of fish but this fattie 22 showed up at last light and was right on time for the dinner bell. I think this is only the 4th fish I have kept this year out of what seems like 1000 fish.
